The End Of An EraThe End Of An Era

You don't find a lot of old buildings with original ads and store names printed on them very often. I love to photograph these whenever I can. This was done with a composer pro and double glass optic from Lensbaby.

The Darkest WalkThe Darkest Walk

One of my walks using a Lensbaby Scout with a fisheye. I always love a high contrast black and white image. This is the walk way down to the Ohio rivers edge. This photo was taken around 10 AM.  The sun and a few adjustments can do wonderful things to an image.

Official Press Release for fPOE

Written by Claire Kolb Carpenter:

In 2009, photographer Elle Moss noticed an absence of female-only art teams on Etsy, so she founded the Female Photographers of Etsy (fPOE) team to provide a safe place for female photographers from around the world to support each other and grow their Etsy businesses. This collective of women ranges from self-taught photographers to professionals who offer their diverse and expressive works to art collectors everywhere through the Etsy marketplace. Using a variety of techniques, styles, and subject themes to express themselves, these women share a passion for photography, a dream of sharing their art with others, and a commitment to providing high-quality prints in their Etsy shops. This show is a celebration of their love for the photograph, and its diversity illustrates the multi-faceted, dynamic being that is the female photographer.

Six years later fPOE has grown to over 950 members and maintains lively community discussions about all matters photography and Etsy. Team members support each other’s photography and businesses namely by providing advice and resources for photographic materials, supplies, manufacturers, and more. At its core, the fPOE community provides its members with a safe place to be vulnerable with their work and to receive support on how to manage a photography shop on Etsy.

fPOE promotes its members through a variety of social media events and activities, such as artist profiles on the team’s blog, Instagram photo challenges, lens challenges, and Pinterest boards. In the past, the team has produced a magazine and a photography series of diptychs and triptychs named Miss Match. In 2009 and 2011, the group designed and self-published two art books—She’s a Rainbow and Still—to showcase the work of its members and for the joy of the fine art photograph. The team maintains its commitment to the print medium by asking that more than half of members’ photographic products be fine art print-based, which includes prints, canvases, wood blocks, etc…. In these ways, fPOE has created and maintains a thriving community of female photographers who are invested in each other and in the larger world of photography.
